Oct. 24, 2024, 7:13 a.m.

Every October in the French city of Sosaim, the "Presidents' Meal" takes place, at which all the charitable associations and clubs of the city gather together for a festive lunch to chat, share the results of their work, and celebrate the most active or most feared members of the organizations. This year, the local BO "Children of Chernobyl" also joined the meeting.

Valery Rozhdestvenska, a special correspondent of Novina.LIVE in France, also attended the event.

Annual meeting of French benefactors

As many as 31 associations joined the "Presidents' Meal" this time. There is a great variety of what these associations do: table tennis, white cross, blood donors, accordion players, diving association and others.

And among these organizations there is one that has been involved in helping Ukraine for more than 30 years, the "Children of Chernobyl" association. In the beginning, volunteers helped place children who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl disaster in French families. Today, the organization sends humanitarian trucks to Ukraine, in the spring it hosts Ukrainian child artists in France.

"Since Chernobyl, everything that Ukraine has built is wonderful, we traveled from north to south, crossing Ukraine, we saw that there is really something new, that there is progress, and now we see that all these places where I was, they were bombed and destroyed, this is a big change and what we see visually. It is also bad that the foreign population hears these stories every day and begins to lose interest, it is sad, because it is necessary for the European society to continue to fight even more for for Ukraine to be free," said Claude Scherzer, president of the "Children of Chernobyl" association.

We will remind, it became known that France will transfer the first three Mirage-2000 aircraft to Ukraine during the first trimester of 2025.

It should also be noted that Ukraine will receive a grant of 200 million euros from France to support the economy.
